Baby Its Cold Outside

On days like this when it is frigid outside I am glad that I get to stay at home in my sweats and have no where to go. I am also getting a lot done around the house which is a good feeling. Things that have been leaning against the wall for Nicholas to hang I am finally hanging them and this weekend I am planning on painting the doors to Emma's closet because that needs done and now that I am no longer impregnated I can do it myself...I am a big girl! Tonight is the first night that we are going to try to give Calvin formula to make sure he gets used to it before I go back to work just in case I can't pump enough to keep up with him. I will let you know how it goes. Today Emma and I danced together which was fun. We always dance together but today it was for a long time! I taught her how to pivot which was cute. How are things for everyone else going? Any news from the outside world?

First Haircut

Here's Emma before the haircut...notice the Fraiser Crane curls peeking from behind her.
All clipped up and ready to go...so cute!
In the middle of the haircut!

So I promised some of you (read Aunt Jan) that I would post pictures from Emma's haircut and I realized that I never did...what a bad neice I am! Geesh! Emma was so good during the haircut and sat so still except for when a song would come on that she liked and then her little head would start bobbing! Nicholas says we are raising a princessy little girl, just like her mommy...I don't know why...just because she sleeps on 1100 thread count sheets, loves lobster, and now gets her haircut at the Nicholas Salon...oops! Well that is all for now, enjoy the pics!

Enjoying January

I am thoroughly enjoying staying home with the kids! Calvin has gained a pound since he was born and is finally starting to fill in his clothes! I was about to go out and start buying preemie outfits, but long last things are starting to fit. He is also awake more and alert which is always fun. He is picking his head up quite a bit and almost rolled over the other night. How exciting! Emma has taken to saying "yes" instead of "yeah" and she says it so definitevely its adorable! Kelsey had her saying "suck it" last night which isn't good but I have to admit it was hilarious! Emma has also entered the world of make believe so we have stuffed cats trying to eat Roscoe's food and we are reading to baby dolls. This morning Emma woke up about 6:30 crying so we brought her into bed with us. Then Calvin needed fed so he ended up in there too. I just turned to Nick, smiling and told him "I've been waiting my whole life for this...two kids jumping into bed with us." I think he thought I was crazy but he agreed. Well that is it for now. Thought I would let you all know there has been no postpardum depression here, just a lot of sleepless nights that have been worth every second of it!

Bored here with kids asleep

I feel almost as though I should just be blogging about Calvin, but this is my blog so I'll do things my way, ha! Tomorrow Emma is being watched by Aunt Jan while we take Cal to his appointment with the doctor. Afterwards, I may come home and switch kids and take Em out to get her hair cut. We haven't cut it yet because she had the curls and it was just so adorable. But as I again noticed today when I combed it, the curls are gone and she has some type of weird Fraiser Crane hair-do. Its funny because Nick is actually the one that has not been wanting to cut it...its too cute he says. Her hair is bringing down her look, I told him. So we are getting it cut. I am hoping tomorrow but we will see.

In frugal fun news, I went out yesterday to Macy's to see what deals I could find for myself. Besides finding a messy parking lot full of people who don't remember how to park when it snows, there was little to find. I left Nick home with the kids and actually had time to look around in areas other than just the kids department, and yet that is the only place I was able to find anything. I scored a soft sweater hoodie for Cal for 4.69 and a couple of pairs of yoga pants for Emma for .69 a piece. We have big aspirations of starting yoga this Summer but we will see.

So that is all that is going on around here. I will talk to you all soon, love you!

In our neck of the woods

Okay so this picture has nothing to do with the blog, just thought you would enjoy it...a picture from the first bath. Just thought I would update you on what has been going on around here...we took Emma today to get her first hair cut but they were just too busy so we are going to have to fit that in some other day...I'll post pictures when we do that. Nick's being neutered the 8th of February...yeah! No Valentine's day lovin' here at the Witwer household as I am still in the 6 week period and Nick can't do anything for ten days after the operation. I am so excited this will be done and I will know that this is the last of baby having! I am feeling overwhelmed but in no specific way. People have been fantastic in asking what I need done and really I don't need anything...unless you have a wet nurse available that can feed my son through the night so I can get a good night's sleep. I have been doing all of the feedings at night on my own while Nick sleeps and is funny because he just can't figure out why I would be so tired...hmmm, I wonder? So I am slowly getting into that place where my body is mad because it knows it hasn't had sleep but even worse won't be getting sleep for quite sometime. I just want to sleep everyone, please! And yes I know Calvin sleeps when he is not feeding but I want a solid nights sleep, no waking up for feedings or changings or to see if he is still breathing (yes as a matter of fact I am a freak) so that is what is going on here...inside the house I had not left in a week before Thursday night...I am becoming a hobbit who likes Elmo apparently. How are things going on the outside world?

I can do this!

So I have been home for a week now and although I can't say I have gotten the hang of this quite yet, I can say that things are gradually getting easier for us. Thinking of having two kids alone at home with me was very overwhelming to begin with but gradually things are getting easier. I am learning that I need to be very organized...I am planning meals and using our new crock-pot. Laundry and vacuuming, it is all somehow working out. Calvin sleeps most of the day so besides feedings and changings I can devote my time to Emma. We have been playing and learning a lot the last couple of days. I think she is overall making the transition very well. It could be a lot worse I guess. I just have to keep telling myself, I can do this, I can do this. And somehow I am going to get through this.

I'd like to introduce you to our son

This is Calvin James. He is the newest member of the Witwer family. He was born Monday, January 7th at 6:37 am. He weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. He looks so much like Nicholas it is commical. A girl whos my twin and now a boy whos his twin. Arielle says that its like having a black baby and a white baby. He is such a blessing in our lives. He is much quieter than Emma was when she was born, he sleeps most of the day and we have to wake him up to feed him.
Last night was his first night home and he slept from 11 pm until 6 am without waking up...I was impressed to say the least.
I successfully had a vbac (vaginal birth after cesaeran) which I was so happy about. When I had Emma I felt as if I had missed out on the whole birth experience so I was glad to be able to go through it this last time around. Sunday night I went grocery shopping, came home, made an apple pie, fixed dinner, and was going about business as usual. About 7:30 I started having contractions and by 8:00 they were lasting almost two minutes and were about 3 minutes apart. We arrived to the hospital shortly after 9 and the next morning I had him. I had nubain and an epidural which I could not imagine not having...what a godsend. I am so blessed by Nicholas who was amazing during the whole labor and the entire experiece has made me fall in love with him even more.
We got home yesterday and the house is gradually getting cleaned up and straightened, and I feel as though life is starting to be colored in as normal. I am just so happy I didn't have to have a c-section as I felt so awful last time and this time I feel like, well, I feel like me which is wonderful.

Our Little Chocolate Addict

After we were done playing in the snow the other day we came in to get warmed up and I was in the kitchen making some hot cocoa and who should stroll in with an entire chocolate bar in her hands but Miss Kazoo? Somehow she had gotten up where all of the Christmas goodies are kept and found it. As if that isn't bad enough when she needs her fix she mopes around the house saying "chocolate, chocolate". She also screams when you tell her she can't have anymore. I think we have a little girl with a serious chocolate addiction on our hands.

Great Deals at Macy's

Macy's is having some fabulous clearance sales right now so you should all go and take a look. There was also an ad in Sunday's paper around here with a coupon for an additional 15% off. There were oodles of things to look at but with Emma saying "walk, walk" every fifteen seconds in her stroller, we didn't have much time to browse before she erupted into screaming as toddlers tend to do. Below is a picture of three onesies I got for Baby Cal. Originally they would have been $28.00 plus tax but with tax and everything I got them for a total of $3.78. Not bad at all if I do say so myself. I love good deals, don't you?

A Few of My Favorite Things

We really did have an amazing Christmas and I thought I would share some of my favorite gifts I received. I really am a lucky girl, there are a lot more I could have listed but I tried to pick the unique ones. What did Santa bring everyone else?

2 Wustoff knives from my wonderful in-laws! They are wonderful...the knives and the in-laws!This is the planner Nicholas got for me with a pen my Aunt Jan made for me...it has a picture of little Kazoo inside of it! And this may be my favorite gift! It is a picture frame my cousin Jaime made for us...she made the figures of all of us that you see...isn't it cute? Nick likes it because she gave him hair!

Ringing in the New Year

Here's her outfit for the day...I thought it was appropriate for the amount of snow we got!

So today we sat around and enjoyed all of the snow falling here. It is nice when the snow falls and you don't have to be anywhere. Nicholas was getting stir crazy though from not being out of the house in about three days, so we ventured onto the snowy roads to go shopping and to grab a bite to eat. I am enjoying my final days with it being just the three of us. I woke up from our nap this afternoon and just the feel of Emma between Nicholas and I in bed napping is going into my vault of treasured memories. What a heavenly sensation. We also bundled Emma up and went out in the snow which she loved. So we had a wonderful day. Also shown are flowers I got...there are tons of flowers around here now; Nicholas says it looks like a flower shop there are so many, but I had to split them up around the house, so it goes. Hope you all had a wonderful New Year!

These are the flowers in my dressing room and I love them! Everyone loved Gerbera daisies, right?

Poor thing, we got snow on her face!

Eskimo kisses in the snow!
